Thank you Barbara for your honesty and openness. You spell out the life of an artist rather accurately: the hardships along with the many rewards. Your experiences also apply to the many occupations working in creative industries. You will recall Edison trying to invent a storage battery for automobiles. Reporters interviewing him said you have tried 4000 recipes and they all did not work so you are a failure. Edison replied:”not so, as I now know 4000 ways that don’t work, which is invaluable.” Through one’s life in making art we develop art that doesn’t always work, and we need to accept this is not always negative and can be positive.
Thanks,
Bruce
