She has been continually refining her self-invented soft-pastel-on-sandpaper techniques for 40 years. She is the subject of the acclaimed documentary “Barbara Rachko: True Grit,” available on YouTube, and her ebook “From Pilot to Painter” captures her inspiring journey from former Navy Commander, pilot, and Boeing-727 flight engineer to accomplished artist.

I love this image! There aren’t many places in the world where you can see cactus and glaciers in the same photograph.
