Pearls from artists* # 270

Barbara's studio

Barbara’s studio

* an ongoing series of quotations – mostly from artists, to artists – that offers wisdom, inspiration, and advice for the sometimes lonely road we are on.

As Charlie Parker quipped, “If you don’t live it, it won’t come out of your horn.”  And it won’t register in your bearing:  this is the earned credit for trying to walk the daily tightrope and tell your story when you get to the other side.

  1. Great quote. Reposted it on my FB page. As I trying to come up with an intro to the repost, this came out: Being an artist is not just a profession; it is a state of being.

I think it is original, but I may have read it somewhere and filed it away sub-consciously. If it is original, thank you. You inspired me 🙂
